My #Hygge themed evening with the Scottish Mothers Collective SMC

image1Life gets very busy as a second time new mum – balancing life on maternity leave, a toddler and the hopes and dreams of a career still progressing – and as a firm follower of the Scottish Mothers Collective on Instagram and Facebook, when they advertised a “Hygge” themed get-to-gether I couldn’t resist!

Their whole concept for the group is that Scottish Mothers can get together and share ideas, with somewhat of a aim for working mothers perhaps even those leading their own companies.  The drive is to be something very different from other mother groups around, but also provide like minded people a place for fun and sharing.

As this was my first event joining the ladies, I wasn’t sure what to expect BUT  I wasn’t let down by the evening. It was fantastic and left me wanting more.

The whole evening we were treated to a great cosy atmosphere (just what Hygge needed!) with candles by Timeless Candles , lovely trendy bar in Milngavie in Glasgow, and surrounded by good wine tasting and sensational flower displays by Lorraine Wood @LWflowers.  With the style of the evening being informative but also engaging – there was no way this evening felt like a sacrifice from my normal life.  In fact, hearing from other Scottish female entrepreneurs who balance life as a mother as well as business was truly inspiring and I loved being part of such a collection of inspiring women for the evening.  It was hard not to come away with a sense of purpose and drive for life again in all areas.

Outside the weather was typically cold and frosty Glasgow weather, and it couldn’t help but work in favour of the concept of the evening.  I chatted with some outstanding and driven mothers throughout the night, ones that I am looking forward to seeing at future events and following their companies and passions online too.  Everyone who turned up to the event seemed to have an exciting story to tell – and I love that!

The group seemed like a group I want to inspire to give more to and be part of as much as possible.

Well done SMC!  I can’t wait for the next event to meet you all again!
