Run Mama Run – Week 2 progress

Share this post

Week 2 is already done and dusted in my #MarathonMay challenge for the Accord Hospice, and it’s been a good solid week of progress for my sister and I.

If you didn’t know, we are running/walking/cycling the equivalent of a marathon (26 miles/42km) on behalf of a local Hospice and if you would like to join us on the journey in a small donation our Just Giving page is here

As I am writing this our third week of the challenge has nearly gone past already, and I am absolutely loving the feeling of achieving something good and a destination in mind.

In previous years before having my second child last year, my goal was to do one 5km then it became one 10km race.  It seemed like a challenge completely out of my comfort zone as I hate running.  In fact, I still don’t love it but more that I know I can do a 5km race no problem now without some effort and dry weather on my side!

Each week for this special challenge I have been using The Fitness Group Gym based in City Park, Glasgow and without fail it makes my work day better.  I take 30 mins away from my office job desk in the central of Glasgow to either run, walk or cycle during my lunch break and I really look forward to it now.  Office jobs are dangerous for your health (sitting all day is one of the worst things you can do for your body) so the motivation to get moving should be obvious.  I’m just very lucky to have this place right on my doorstep, as it is modern fresh and new “gym-goer” friendly.  A great little find for anyone!

So here are our totals for Week 2 of our challenge:

Mamafurfur (Jennifer) = 5km run + 10km cycle = 15km   New TOTAL = 34km (8km to go!)

Gillian = 5km run + 2km run  New TOTAL = 20.5km (21.5km to go!)

With two weeks left in May and the Glasgow Race for Life 5km on Sunday for us both, we look set to do some great things for this cause.

Let’s keep this going!
