“Mrs Claus” Christmas visit to Pollok House

@PollokHouseNTS Our love for the National Trust for Scotland and their family membership brings one of our favourite Christmas time activities – our annual visit to see Mrs Claus at Pollok House.  You really can’t beat it for a great family day out with an unusual twist on the normal Santa experience.

This year yet again Pollok House staff had taken great efforts and time to make the place and each room completely in the festive spirit, with each room decorated to represent a different Christmas Carol.

In keeping with the christmas adventure theme, we were escorted by an Elf to Mrs Claus’ sitting room with a Post box for Santa and tables filled with christmas activity sheets for the children to do.  Mrs Claus took time with all the children to ask them what they wanted for Christmas and how busy Santa & the Elves were making their presents this year.  Great time and effort was made for each child to get a moment with Mrs Claus and feel special on the day, which truly made the visit much more than the normal Santa “sit on the knee” and off again.

Each room of the house was decorated in the style of a Christmas Carol, and a really fun element of the day for the children and adults alike was to guess which carol each room was supposed to be as you went along.  Another little element of the day that helped make it exciting for all ages.

With all NTS events, alot of time and effort had been made by the staff to give the children a sense of magic and excitement for this seasonal event – and with that effort it is no wonder the Mrs Claus experience continues to sell out each and every year.  I would recommend to anyone looking for something abit different than the usual Santa experience each year to try it out, and start their own NTS tradition at christmas.
